The first in a series on May Day in Istanbul. This year's May Day was particularly significant for people as it was the 30th anniversary of the day when 36 people were killed on a May Day march in Taksim Square, Istanbul. But the Turkish state tried it's best to prevent any kind of protest happening.
But protesters gathered in Istiklal Street hoping to march on the square. Here they are expecting and attack from the police.
