A wood yardPosted by Carol (Istanbul, Turkey) on 1 February 2007 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. I love wood. Sad I know and this could be a wood yard anywhere, but I like the optical illusion.

ryan from Austin, United StatesLike a modern art installation. Interesting image. Cheers! 1 Feb 2007 8:50am Abdullah from Esfahan, IranI love to take a smell at this wood yard :) , Nice picture. 1 Feb 2007 10:49am @Abdullah: I know what you mean. It was to get a smell that I walked in :) ResoluteReader from United KingdomThe absence of human forms in this image clearly underlines that you are suffering a political trajectory away from seeing change from below as a central principle, to one where structures (as exemplified by the building materials) are the most important political principle. Reformism is a trap, don't fall into it. 1 Feb 2007 12:31pm Fred from Easton PA, United StatesInteresting photo , the trail threw the " woods " seems to go one forever . ResoluteReader, are you a therapist ? 1 Feb 2007 5:31pm @Fred: Thanks Fred - but do you get the optical illusion?? Fred from Easton PA, United StatesWell to be honest , I was admiring the composition, contrast and the visual depth of the photo . I'm feeling just a little foolish right now, it must be right under my nose huh ? lol 1 Feb 2007 5:55pm @Fred: :) the sides go in at the middle. I thought it was obvious but few have seen it. :( Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaIt's an interesting medium, it has a nice nexture and always makes for interesting photos. This one is no different, great use of black and white - the tones are excellent and make for a very interesting scene. Great work! 1 Feb 2007 9:18pm @Chris Sullivan: What's an interesting medium? here's a conception out there that b&w always produces a good pic. I have many that disprove this theory. Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaSorry, I was referring to the timber (visually interesting from the point of view of the different grains/shades etc). I don't subscribe to the theory that black and white shots make for good photography. But in your photo above it works very well, more so than if you'd shot in colour. 1 Feb 2007 9:32pm Fred from Easton PA, United Statesoptical illusion -NOUN:A visually perceived image that is deceptive or misleading. Carol , unless this is actually a photograph of a tall man drinking a glass of milk that just looks like stacks of wood leaning on the walls I can't find the illusion . You've found my weakness, I can't resist a mystery ! I've tried staring at the image until my eyes burned, then I downloaded a copy, enlarged it thinking it may be due to the size. Still no illusion. I tried looking at it with one eye, then the other. Rotating the image, stand back from the computer monitor and slowly moving towards the image. Then I remembered your reply to my second comment : " the side go in at the middle " . After a brief observation he seemed disinterested then walking away with the comment, Maybe it's a duck. Alas Carol I surrender. Though I find this to be a fine photograph I've come to the conclusion that your sitting at your computer laughing hysterically at the silly American who believed there was actually an illusion here. 1 Feb 2007 10:45pm Carol from TurkeyI'm laughing hysterically cos you can't see the duck. Well maybe its not there. But from my eyes the sides of the pic go in at the middle. When I explained this to someone else he saw it. You've made my night Fred :) x 1 Feb 2007 10:52pm |
